11/10/2009 - 8:00am - 5:00pm

LEED AP in Homes Exam Preparation Version 3

SCC is sponsoring LEED examination trainings this year. A working breakfast and lunch will be provided by State Center Consortium.

What is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED)?

LEED is an internationally recognized certification system that measures how well a building or community performs across all the metrics that matter most: energy savings, water efficiency, CO2 emissions reduction, improved indoor environmental quality, and stewardship of resources and sensitivity to their impacts.

Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED provides building owners and operators a concise framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.

LEED is flexible enough to apply to all building types – commercial as well as residential. It works throughout the building lifecycle – design and construction, operations and maintenance, tenant fitout, and significant retrofit. And LEED for Neighborhood Development extends the benefits of LEED beyond the building footprint into the neighborhood it serves.

LEED AP in Homes

This specialty provides a standard for teachers/professionals participating in design and construction of high-performance green homes that use less energy, water, and natural resources; create less waste; and are more healthful and comfortable for the occupants.

It is highly recommended that each participant read through the LEED Rating System to gain a basic level of familiarity before the workshop at http://www.usgbc.org/DisplayPage.aspx?CMSPageID=222.
