This workshop is in partnership with the Health Workforce Initiative (HWI) and is free to middle and high school science teachers and ROPs. Participants learn how to replicate the successful collaborative created by HASPI that has increased student performance in middle and high school science courses, and strengthened transition and retention rates in community college programs.

Workshop outcomes:
  • Prepare students for careers in health and medicine.
  • Receive medical resources to incorporate into current standards-based science courses.
  • Increase student performance in science coursework.
  • Join a collaborative of Central Valley teachers, schools, and healthcare industries to discuss, implement and support best practices, and share resources.
Preliminary agenda:
  • Introduce the Health and Science Pipeline Initiative program and its curriculum resources.
  • Overview of the Foundation Course: Medical Biology.
  • Developing/improving a Health Pathway Program at your site.
  • Developing/improving partnerships with community colleges and employers.
  • Overcoming barriers to implementation.
